To my work I bring more than two decades of experience in journalism, where I have worked as a copyeditor, writer, publications specialist, and photographer. After graduating from the University of Washington with degrees in drama and communications, I went to work at a local newspaper, where I honed my skills.
In 2005 I returned to school to study education and, since receiving my Master's degree from Antioch University, have taught a variety of subjects including journalism and academic writing. I have especially enjoyed working closely with beginning writers ranging in age from teen to adult as well as teaching non-native speakers, both in the United States and abroad.
When I am not editing or teaching, I am often reading; what I read varies widely—just about anything well written appeals to me. I am an avid photographer as well as a fan of film and theater. In addition to being a member of the Northwest Independent Editors Guild, I am involved in the Seattle InDesign User Group and a number of local WordPress meetups, which helps keep my digital design skills current.
